What is Power Factor Correction?
The Power Factor of a network is the ratio of the Actual / Active Power (KW) consumed, expressed as a factor of the Total / Apparent Power (actual + reactive) that your utility provider is charging you. This item is billed separately in KVA and is determined at the peak of your consumption for your billing cycle.
Correction or rather elimination of this reactive component can reduce this item on your account and other kvarh penalties by between 15 & 35%. In general in our 40 years for operations we tend to find that these projects render return on investments upwards of 25% per annum, consistently with this figure in some cases, achieving amortisation periods of less than 24 months.
